About Me

I am a Software Developer at the Technology Innovation Centre. Previously, I was a Software Developer / Researcher at the University of Birmingham . I was the chief software developer for the Interactive Logbook project (Phase 2) - A UK Government funded Personal Learning Environment platform.  I was also working with the Human Interface Technology Group in the field of wearable technology and distributed collaboration system. Currently, all software projects are developed in Microsoft's .NET platform in either C# or Visual Basic.

I was graduated in 2001 with Master in Business Studies from Aston Business School, 2000 with Master in Computer Science with Distinction and 1999 with Bachelor in Electronic and Computer Engineering from the University of Birmingham.

Like most of my collegues my original intention was to work in the software industry straight from University. Well, the dot-com bubbled collapsed and I was offered an opportunity for a Ph.D. programme and software development by the University of Birmingham. Then, I was involved in numerous software projects in the field of mobile technology within the university.

About 3 years ago the Educational Technology Research Group and the Centre of Educational Technology and Distance Learning which I belong became a Microsoft Reference Site for Mobile Learning. Hence, the partnership between the facilitiy and Microsoft was established. I was fortunate to have a chance to involved in serveral projects funded by Microsoft to study the use of mobile computing, particularly the Tablet PC in education and workspace. During the partnership Microsoft invited myself and some of my collegues to Paris (Mobile Developer Conference 2003), Dublin (.NET Academic Conference) and many other events within the United Kingdom. Microsoft also funded me for my participation in the IEEE Wireless and Mobile Technology in Education Conference 2004 in Taiwan, ROC.

The software I have developed during my time in the for various projects include the Student Learning Organiser Suite for Pocket PC, Mobile Learning Organiser system for Outlook / Exchange Server and had helped to developed the Mobile Learning Metadata for the European Union IST funded project MOBILearn.
