Previously I was a Software Developer at the Technology Innovation Centre and Software Developer / Researcher at the University of Birmingham. Where I was the chief software developer for the Interactive Logbook project - A UK Government funded Personal Learning Environment platform. I was also working with the Human Interface Technology Group in the field of wearable technology and distributed collaboration system. Today, I have been preparing the "virgin" Windows XP images for the Wearable PC X4. Because the fact that the X4s haven't got a built-in CD-ROM, I had to "preload" the hard disk with old fashion DOS and the XP's i386 folder.
Getting the bootable DOS system on the 2.25" Hard Drive via an USB was an issue. I tried hooking the hard drive as a physical hard disk on VMWare, then using a Windows 98 boot disk and do a "SYS C:". System files were transferred but as soon as I rebooted the VM all MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS and COMMAND.COM were no longer on the hard drive and the VM failed to boot.
At the end I ended up installing DOS on the virtual drive instead of the physical drive, Image that virtual drive using TrueImage and finally transfer the Imag ...
